I’m lucky enough to have been born and raised in Western
North Carolina, and now I’m raising my family here. I
couldn’t imagine being any other place. The landscape is
beautiful, the people are friendly and the mountains
offer endless activities and enjoyment.
Real estate has been my career since 1995 and I opened
Smoky Mountain Getaways in 2001. I have the best job in
the world! My favorite thing is helping a family have an
unforgettable vacation or helping a family purchase the
home of their dreams. It has led to many new friends
whom I treasure.
When not at work, I enjoy time spent with my husband and
our 2 daughters. We take full advantage of the outdoors
by camping, hiking, boating and horseback riding. Many
times are spent with friends and relatives just sitting
on the porch enjoying the views and eating way too much
southern food.
Kim Preston - Broker
Hi, my name is Kim Preston and I am a local real estate
professional. I was born here in Jackson County and have
made my home here for the past 40+ years. (Can’t be too
specific here ) I have hiked to the top of the county’s
highest peak, gone tubing in the county’s coldest creek
and picnicked in the county’s most sought after spot.
Not many people have had the blessing of enjoying this
county like I have, having lived and played here all my
life. I am married to David Preston ( a local of 20
years) and I have three beautiful daughters who each
manage to be the light of my life. My real estate career
is very important to me coming in only third after God
and my family. Some things that you might like to know
about me are:

am a Christian. God has blessed me in so many ways.

love to laugh and have fun and I like to see other
people do the same.

I love children! I love their hugs
and the way they view the world so openly and honestly. The unconditional love that they so freely give to
all who will accept it is just amazing.

love snow. It is best viewed from my cozy window seat
over a steaming cup of hot chocolate. I will work on
snow days but only if fun is included.

I grew up in Jackson
County and I
absolutely love the area and the people. I am proud of
where I come from and understand that not everyone loves
the mountains like I do though I am not sure why.

I love Christmas and start
decorating and baking cookies in mid November. And yes,
I have been known to start singing Christmas songs
before Thanksgiving.

I
enjoy helping families find the perfect home and seeing
their faces as everything comes together and they are
handed the keys to their new house.
This last
statement leads me into my chosen profession. The
exciting world of Real Estate! I have been in real
estate for close to 20 years and I would still choose
the same career after all these years. I can’t think of
any other job that would afford me the opportunity to be
consistently challenged, meet new and interesting
people, and to make things happen in such a tangible
way. Although real estate is a seven-day-a-week job, I
have a wonderfully supportive family and I very rarely
miss a school play or ball game. God has truly blessed
me with both a fantastic family and a very rewarding
career.
I approach my business in a unique manner in that I see
people first and clients second. I rarely finish a
transaction never to hear from my client again. Once I
work with someone, they become a client for life and in
almost all cases a friend for life. It is profoundly
meaningful to be able to build a client base on the
recommendations of those you have already done business
with. Repeat clients and referrals make up more than 90%
of my business.

Office Staff
Smoky Mountain Getaways is a family business so it makes
sense that the 2 office staffers are Sarah and Laura,
Chérie’s mother and daughter!
Reservations – both Sarah and Laura have first hand
knowledge of all the homes and enjoy helping plan
vacations.
Maintenance & Housekeeping – Sarah oversees the cleaning
schedules and maintenance of the rental homes. She has a
wonderful group of about 15 housekeepers who are hard
working and well trained. Her favorite maintenance
person is Bud - her husband and Chérie’s dad!
Real Estate Assistant – Laura
helps with advertising and real estate. She is our jack-of-all-trades and is available when Kim, Sarah or
Chérie needs help. During nights and weekends she is in
school working towards her appraiser and real estate
licenses.
